WORSHIP ~ TRANSFORM ~ INFLUENCE

ABOUT US

OUR MISSION

We believe in teaching life transforming messages that grow individuals to Christian maturity. There is an emphasis on worship, the presence of God, and the power of the Holy Spirit at all of our services; as well as an expectation to receive healing or whatever God wants to accomplish.

We sense an urgency to help prepare the church today to become the church of tomorrow, not only in Australia but also internationally.

Our passion is to see this generation transformed through God’s word and His Spirit to impact society in every sphere of influence. We prioritise three areas to accomplish our mission:

1. INTIMACY WITH GOD
We believe developing an intimate relationship with God is a priority given by Jesus in John 4:23-24:

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."
We offer a worship lifestyle development course written by Pastor Tom called, Psalmody School of Worship. This unique non–musical course has helped tens of thousands in many nations to get to know God more intimately and has strengthened their faith. Alongside worship, we believe prayer is an inseparable partner and encourage ways to practice it personally and corporately.

2. TRANSFORMATION THROUGH HIS WORD

Personal transformation into the likeness of Jesus is a continual and necessary process in the life of a Christian. We believe and acknowledge that only God’s word and the power of the Holy Spirit can transform a life. Our meetings are word-based and Spirit-led supplemented by training courses and seminars to accomplish this goal.

3. INFLUENCE –IN SOCIETY
The greatest evidence of a transformed life is our testimony and interaction to a world that does not know Christ. We believe in personalised evangelistic training, reaching the community with various courses and outreach events; and sending and supporting missions currently in Australia, Africa, India and Israel.

OUR JOURNEY

Sydney Life Church was pioneered by Pastor Tom and Barbara Inglis in 2002. Though they are originally from Scotland and South Africa, they were based in Southern California for many years but felt the call of God to start a church in Sydney, Australia. After several trips to Australia to find out where God wanted them to pioneer the church, the family arrived on Easter Monday 2002 in Sydney. They felt the leading of the Lord to start the work in Mosman just 15 minutes north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The work was truly significant as Mosman had long been the new age centre in the southern hemisphere and then been dominated by Christian Science since 1938.

After months of searching, a venue was found at the Warringah Bowling Club, and the first service was held on Sunday morning 4 August 2002.

In May 2003, they took a step of faith and moved to the beautiful ANZ Theatre at Taronga Zoo. The year 2004 was a significant year of God adding to the church and giving direction for the future. Over the years, they have used various venues and in 2015 the church shifted its focus to the entire Lower North Shore of Sydney. A permanent building was secured in Neutral Bay, the new home of the church for the foreseeable future.

The church is currently growing and fulfilling the vision of being a Spirit-filled church who are passionate about worship, exercising faith in God’s word, and also the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
