It is a life journey continually unfolding in which God not only reveals who He is, but who we are and how we can be transformed into His image. The Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people. But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel (Psalm 22:3). This scripture does not say that God inhabits and then we praise. It infers that we praise and then He inhabits. Inhabitation was the ultimate purpose of God and progressively throughout the Old Testament He was using the obedience of men and woman for a period of four thousand years to accomplish this culminating in Jesus. Many are seeking God’s presence especially in worship, but He is already present in your spirit. The biggest mistake people can make is to search for an external God, outside of them. The revelation this generation needs is that God is present within us and wants to be ‘released’ through us to a needy world.
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 1 Corinthians 3:16.
Our worship doesn’t get us closer to God. He is already closer than you can imagine. It does however help us to get to know Him in a more intimate way. As we develop a lifestyle of worship throughout the week our worship on Sunday (or whenever we go to church) will be an overflow of it. In a sense, we take our worship to church instead of going to church to ‘get or to into’ worship. When this happens God will become so real to us in corporate worship and powerfully manifest Himself outwardly with healings, deliverances and salvations. He wants His people to prepare a place of intimacy with Him at home. This is the radical transformation that is taking place right now throughout the church world and will intensify before Jesus returns.
Christianity is not so much a destination but a journey. Obviously the destination is heaven and we are all excited about it, however there is a kingdom to build here on the earth. When we get as excited about earth and the work we have to do, our eternal destination will take on its rightful significance.
Jesus said “I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.” John 17:4.
Enjoy the journey of worship and obedience and He will give you the most exciting life you can’t even imagine.
