The most creative time in Israel’s history was when David was on the throne simply because he spent time with God and was able to receive His plans and purposes and implement them with astounding results. The city of Jerusalem and nation prospered because the king worshiped (Proverbs 11:10). A nation is a reflection of it’s worship, and can never rise above it. Whoever we exalt governs the nation in the spirit realm. God allowed him to tap into His wisdom and creativity. God allowed him to tap into His heart of wisdom and creativity. The Hebrew word for ‘create’ in scripture is BARA and has been referred to as a word that is used sparingly by God to describe the pinnacles of His creativity.
When God creates something it is referred to as BARA creation and has the unique design and fingerprint of God. It remains a mystery to us because it is beyond our full comprehension and our creative ability. The word ‘bara’ is used over eighty times in scripture but solely the result of God’s activity to create and never man. When God creates, there are five distinct characteristics associated with His creation.
Because we are created in the image and likeness of God, He has graciously given mankind abilities to make and fashion things that are a reflection of His infinite creative genius. There are no limitations to the creative nature of God that have been available to you. However many people do not tap into His supernatural ability as king David did, but there is a key to all of this. It is to spend time in His presence as David did in prayer and worship. I am convinced that God wants to distinguish this generation with creative ideas in all areas of endeavour but we have to pursue Him first and creativity will follow.
